weeks practice with fx wildcat using fx, hades and USB jumbo .22 at 30yds I can just about group the same as my 50yd groups with my s510 .177. Would this be usual? I've tried indexing the fx which actually got rid of a windage issue , I've tried more pellet types than a USB rep. My Lelya .177 bullpup groups like the 510 now.

Hi Antony, I have just bought a 0.177" barrel for my 0.22" FX Crown and so have shot both calibres in the same conditions. The Crown was a little inconsistent when I received it. 'Some tuning' later (in 0.22") gave the current state of play where I often get 4 or 5 fps readings of the same figure in a row and a plus/minus of 10-14 fps.
I swapped to the 0.177" barrel and other than a drop in power (to be expected) that consistency is still the same. Background to answering your question, both calibres are equally accurate with JSB Exacts. I was using the 8.44 and 10.34gr in 0.177" and the 14.34 & 15.89gr in 0.22". Both calibres have managed very tight groups at 40 yards (less than an inch) and at 78 yards (2 inch or so).
I do find that the Hades at great at 20 & 30 yards, with groups equal to Exacts, however at 40 and beyond, they open up more than the Exacts for some reason. I can only assume it is either the effect of the head design, or the weight moving back to compensate for the removal of the lead from the dome?
