I am very new to the community, having recently purchased a Glock 17 Gen 5 .177 CO2 air pistol for backyard plinking. Now I'm thinking about buying my first rifle and having watched many of Andy's video reviews, I will likely go for a budget rifle first. With that in mind, I am drawn towards either the Lee Enfield Sentry, or the JTS/Lee Enfield Airacuda Max. What are your thoughts on the relative pro's and con's between these two rifles for a newbie like me? Anything in particular I should watch out for, be concerned with, or would be a deal-breaker or deal-sealer? I will add that I don't intend to use the rifle at home, but specifically for when I attend a local indoor range for some target shooting so I would think that .177 caliber would be sufficient for my purposes.

We are all different. I returned to shooting at aged 65! I purchased a Gamo Whisper Sting kit complete with a basic BSA scope. I joined a club and pretty soon had zeroed the gun, got lots of practice in and decided to upgrade. First off was a BSA ultra CLX in .177. Some like them, personally mine has been fraught with issues. Next was another two springers. I was gifted a 30 year old Weirauch 80k .22 and purchased a Weirauch 97k .177.
I still use all 4 rifles depending on what I am shooting; in my case HFT and bench rest. Plinking I use the Gamo.
lots of guns about, but to be honest, I would ask The club if they have any rifles you can use to start. What looks good and others rave about, doesn’t always suit you. Certainly my BSA CLX all of the reviewers raved about. Personally I wouldn’t take one as a gift!
