A black air rifle with a carbon barrel leans against a tree on grass. Bright sunlight casts shadows. Peaks, Punts and PCPs - Snowpeak AP900 Members Competition Winners Announced

Every so often the airgun industry makes a decision that leaves everyone collectively scratching their heads.

This is one of them.

The Walther Reign M2 is, unfortunately, heading towards retirement. Umarex have decided to discontinue what we genuinely believe has been one of the best value bullpup PCP air rifles ever produced. And that's a real shame.

For years, the Reign M2 quietly went about proving that you didn't need to spend the price of a second-hand hatchback to own a compact, accurate, well-built bullpup. It simply worked. No gimmicks, no unnecessary complexity, just solid engineering wrapped up in one of the shortest full-length PCP packages on the market.

Its departure leaves a sizeable hole in the market, bring on the next contender!

So this competition wasn't just about winning an excellent rifle.

It was a final salute to one of the unsung heroes of the PCP world.

The Question Was...

To enter, members had to answer:

What is the barrel length of the standard Walther Reign M2?

The answer was:

500 mm

Which is rather interesting. Despite being an incredibly compact bullpup, the Reign M2 actually packs a longer barrel than the Weihrauch HW110.

Funny, that. Because one of the oldest criticisms aimed at bullpups is that they're somehow compromising barrel length for compactness. The Reign has always been living proof that this simply isn't true. You get the benefits of a long barrel wrapped up in a rifle that's dramatically shorter overall. Yet somehow, some critics still dismissed it.
