I haven’t shot an air rifle in over 30 years. I’ve decided it’s a hobby I would like to start again. My local club is not taking new members until January. They can loan club guns, but I was wondering what would be an ideal rifle for a sort of new starter since it appears there has been a lot of changes in this hobby. I would be looking at a .177.

Maybe consider a springer too unless you are dead set on a PCP? If you can master a springer, you’ll be an even better PCP shooter. Plus a higher-end springer is probably in the same price ball park as an entry-level PCP and can be just as accurate over your typical club 10 / 25 yard ranges.
hi im in a similar situation myself however after quite a bit of research & YouTube videos i have opted for the BRK Ghost pcp deffo not the cheapest but from what im seeing on YouTube one of the best out there tbh a lot depends on your budget i have a few friend who use the Walther Regin 2 which im told is a mid priced pcp and very reliable ,best advice i can give you is do a lot of research watch lots of YouTube videos before you make your choice . good luck
