Are there any posts / articles / videos that show guns and accessories that fall into a categories like beginner / intermediate / expert ?
I am very new to this and find the range of options out there quite puzzling when your making your first choice. I want to just try my hand at hitting some targets down my garden to start with.
Are there any recommended starter packages that people know of?
I am sure this is probably down to personal taste but are there any manufacturers to be wary of?
Thanks
Richard.
Seems my aar notifications were going the spam route so been a while checking back. Off for my ‘intro’ visit to my local club in about 20 mins. So hopefully I will get an idea of what I want out of the sport from that. But I tend to think rifle shooting and prob a spring rifle due to the associated costs that come with a pcp and refilling - at least to start off with.
Point 5 - good advice :)
Hey Richard,
I would suggestion the following;
look at what you want to get out of shooting, is it pistol or rifle you are looking for.
Look at the type of gun you are looking for co2, pcp or springer. All have associated costs involved.
Cost wise, it not about the equipment, its about the handler and practice. Just because you spent £150 on a springer doesn't need you wont hit the bullseye alongside a £1000 pcp.
Get yourself to a local gun club / shooting range - there will be people there who will let you try out their guns so you get a feel for it. Also these are good placed to learn about gun safety.
Always knock of a few quid of when telling your significant other how much you spent. LOL
From my own experience getting back into the pistol route (I brought my first co2 pistol when I was 18 which was a P226 and now I'm 40), I purchased the Gamo PT-85 tactical which came with all the trimmings (red dot, laser, touch). I then went to a Glock 17 as wanted something I could holster and then a break barrel MP7 and then the Co2 sig Canebrake. I am now looking at a PCP (probably the Remington Vought).
Whatever route you take, I hope you have lots of fun!
Kind Regards and happy plinking
Rob
