There I was, happily knocking over a few tins with a new 0.177" TX200 HC and cheapo vantage 3-9x40 AO scope combo and then I found AAR.
I now have another TX200 in 0.22" in full length with a 4-16x44 SF vantage and I have just bought a Sidewinder FFP to go onto to the 0.177". As sure as eggs are eggs, an Airmax FFP will end up on the 0.22" (to compare the two model of course). I'm also applying for my FAC as I live on a farm and CLEARLY need some FAC air rifles and potentially a 17HMR too.
Neighbours seem to think I'm a bit strange boiling up Mrs AAR's ballistic gel on my hob and storing it in the fridge. Its a good job the country is in lockdown, as it is much easier to hide all of these parts of my 'character'! 😊
Anyway, I blame Andy!
Hi everyone, please be kind to a newbie-oldie air gunner, that hasn't had a gun since my Diana Model 2 pistol and Model 22 air rifle in the 60's.
Andy's got a lot to answer for, especially to my kids, cos I'm going to be spending a chunk of their inheritance soon.
The AA S510 TH .177 has my interest, especially with the positive reviews, looks, feel and weight.
I must admit though, he does do his homework on whatever he's doing a review on, even though I don't have a clue on what he's talking about at the moment.
Hopefully i'll get around finding out the longer I read here [so expect some daft questions].
Just a thought. How would it be, listing where we're from, so a group of locals could meet for a shoot, if enough interested
Still blaming Andy, I am now looking to join AA....... Airrifles Anonymous. As alluded to on a different thread, I now have a PCP to join the TX200s. Bought secondhand, anyone care to guess what it might be?
Ohhhhh, and another springer joined the team too. Secondhand again, and this is a trip back to when I was 16. My father bought me my first ‘proper’ air rifle, and it was a Feinwerkbau Sport with a Bushnell 6x40 scope on it. I saw an old Mk1 Sport for sale and had to have it. Although accurate and still powerful (mid 11s), it was tatty. So a project gun, the metalwork has gone off to be refinished and reblued with Paul Chell. He hasn’t done anything for me before, but he is very highly rated and I have seen pictures of other people finished articles. God forbid, but I am doing the work on the stock! I have started sanding it, so once that is done fully, there will be lots of sealing and then CCL walnut oil-ing. Can’t wait!
So the sidewinder is on and zero-ed. It’s lovely, but massive at over 400mm long and 910g. It blocks the breech even without a sunshade on (I have a honeycomb on now which still doesn’t help, but at least gets rid of the front flipup).
Glass is good, adjusting the turrets is a delight, love the rec and the fact that the holdover/under is the same at any mag is the best thing. Delighted with it, however the Airmax FFP being shorter might be a better option, when I get around to upgrading the other TX200‘s scope.
Hahaha! 😎
Guilty as charged 😂
